River City's mission

River City Art is a one of a kind art studio in Collinsville. Focused on fine art where through independent study, students of all ages are encouraged to try any and all mediums while working on mastering basic skills leading to developing a personal style. They learn creative thinking and how to explore their imagination as well as perspective and how to alter it. Instilling the value of determination, taking a risk and dedication, student artists learn problem solving skills and how to take constructive criticism. They develop confidence and accountability, non verbal communication skills and how to focus on the task at hand as well as collaborating and sharing responsibilities. 

Our best example of that? Our Matterhorn Mini Golf Goat. From there, I really try to base each students experience on what they’re comfortable with, then we start brainstorming ideas further, once the ball is rolling, I step back and let them go with it, dropping “breadcrumbs” along the way so it’s still their ideas and style but sneaking in the technicals to make it fun and interesting.

Former students that still reach out and have used their artistic talents to further their adult lives and make me so proud??  Maddie is a Hair Artist, Liv is Make up Artist in LA, Soph is working for Penguin Publishing, Ry is an Art therapist, and all are amazing human beings and I am so so proud of them...
